FAQs

Does one have to be Jewish to utilize the services of the Jewish Healthcare Center?

The Jewish Healthcare Center is proud to provide care to all, regardless of race, religion or cultural identity.

Can I eat non-Kosher food even though the dining areas are Kosher?

Residents are welcome to eat non-Kosher food in the comfort of their own rooms. Because the dining areas are Kosher, non-Kosher dining is only permitted in one’s private room and in designated community areas.

How are religious needs addressed?

We ask what the resident would like to fulfill his or her spiritual needs. Our campus has a full-time Chaplain who leads a weekly discussion group, a variety of religious services, and provides private pastoral support as desired. Catholic services, mass and communion are also provided.

What belongings can a resident bring?

We encourage our residents to bring essentials, mementos, clothing, pictures, decorations and small items to personalize their room. Furniture and amenities provided to each resident in their room includes a bed, closet, dresser, chair, and bedside table.

Can a resident bring a TV?

Residents bring in their own television sets for personal use.

What about a telephone?

Telephones are included at no charge on the Long-Term Care Units.

Who will be my loved one’s doctor?

Physician services are provided by our in-house Medical Director unless the resident has a Primary Care Provider who is a credentialed physician at Jewish Healthcare Center and agreeable to follow your loved one. Nurse practitioners are available to assess and treat residents under a physician’s supervision.

What about end of life care?

The Jewish Healthcare Center is affiliated with JHC Hospice, a compassionate team of end-of-life specialists that offer guidance and support to both residents and families electing hospice care.
